This piece is glazed with ash made from sunflower stalks. All summer, they slowly reach towards the light. Once their season is complete, the stalks are transformed into ash and returned to the kiln.
The finished glaze carries a gentle warmth, as though something of the sunlight remains. A small reminder to keep turning towards the light.
